Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is exposed to high temperatures and pressures. Marble is a porous, high-maintenance surface. Marble is highly prone to staining and etching. Sealing is required for all marble countertops; however, additional applications of sealer are necessary. Sealing the marble DOES NOT prevent etching.
